San Casciano is located in the Chianti Classico region, the place of origin of excellent wines and extra virgin olive oil

Its former name was San Casciano in Decimo as it is located at the ten mile on roman road between Florence and Siena Through the centuries the name has changed to Vasl di Pesa  i.e. the name of the valley and the river that crossover

The history of San Casciano is the one of a small open market  town  the city walls have been built only on  1500; destroyed during ther 2nd world war it has been rebuilt with houses ands churches

Chiesa delle Suffragette is a site of historical importance it has been a convent in year 1300 today is a museum with important religious works of art

Santa Maria del Prato also known by the name of Misericordia church is another site to visit

It has got the gothic style façade and it is located on way from the town to Florence it contains the crocifx of Simone Martini
